Conscientious Objector Exploitation
You may recall a couple of days ago that I went on a rant over an article in the Washington Post because it advertised for a group which was abusing the conscientious objector rule of the US Military. I characterized Ms. McNeil as a nut from Montgomery. Well it turns out that I underestimated them. This place is hippie central. Its a group calling themselves The Center on Conscience & War. They do not seem to know much about either. Check out the online store. It’s hilarious.

They sport such items as:
ADDICTED to WAR describes the world's most active and powerful military's domination. It is a carefully documented account of the U.S. military adventures since the colonial period to the present war in Iraq and Afghanistan. With over 160 footnotes, this book is an excellent tool for both children and adults.
And my personal favorite:
Peace Not War is a two CD compilation set that features artists who speak out against war, violence, injustice, and human suffering.
The CDs contain a good mix of music: spoken word poetry, hip-hop, rock, and folk songs.
I realize that I may be working against my own interests by linking to them. I’m doing exactly what the Post did. Hopefully, upon seeing this, none of you will suddenly decide to stop bathing. But I believe everyone should be aware of the forces working against this country from the inside.
If someone has to work to become a conscientious objector, then it is obvious that they aren’t one. These people are exploiting a loophole in the system meant for real conscientious objectors. They do not wish to help true conscientious objectors; they wish to recruit the weak and impressionable to betray the United States.
The site also has the following to say:
The Center is a non-profit organization recognized under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
So they don’t pay taxes either. What a waste of oxygen.
Here is the Selective Service's interpretation of what qualifies someone as a conscientious objector. Note the following line:
...a man's reasons for not wanting to participate in a war must not be based on politics, expediency, or self-interest.
CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICE
I think that is fairly clear.
